CableFree CBRS+b53 Aggregation

CableFree 5G for B53 and CBRS aggregation

CableFree partnered with Globalstar, Althea, Hawk Networks, Alliance and Global Telecom to create a combined CBRS+b53 solution for WISPs & Enterprise users: increases capacity (DL and UL), availability dramatically. Carrier Aggregation and latest 4G/5G tech ensures highest performance.

CBRS users gain huge increases in uptime and availability, as the CBRS license mechanism can sometimes disconnect when higher priority users take use of the spectrum.

About the solution

CBRS

Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) is a 150 MHz wide broadcast band of the 3.5 GHz band (3550 MHz to 3700 MHz) in the United States. This is widely available, but has a disadvantage: it can disconnect when higher-priority users take use of the band.

  • The Priority Access tier consists of Priority Access Licenses (PALs) that will be assigned using competitive bidding within the 3550-3650 MHz portion of the band. Each PAL is defined as a non-renewable authorization to use a 10 megahertz channel in a single census tract for three years. Up to seven total PALs may be assigned in any given census tract with up to four PALs going to any single applicant. Applicants may acquire up to two consecutive PAL terms in any given license area during the first auction.
  • The General Authorized Access (GAA) tier is licensed-by-rule to permit open, flexible access to the band for the widest possible group of potential users. General Authorized Access users are permitted to use any portion of the 3550-3700 MHz band not assigned to a higher tier user and may also operate opportunistically on unused Priority Access channels

Band 53

Globalstar’s Band n53 is a rare swath of mid-band spectrum not owned by a wireless operator. It offers integrators, enterprises, governments, carriers and cable companies a versatile, fully licensed channel to improve their customer’s wireless connectivity across multiple geographies. Band n53 is Time-Division Duplexing (TDD) spectrum, requiring only a single frequency band for uplink and downlink, with a frequency range of 2483.5-2495 MHz and bandwidth of 11.5 MHz.

Combining CBRS and Band 53

CableFree 4G/5G can combine CBRS and Band 53 using intelligent “Carrier Aggregation” (CA) which enables connected devices to use both (when available) or either signal, with seamless fault-tolerant connection. If for any reason either of the CBRS or b53 signal is absent, the system continues providing throughput using the remaining band, ensuring full fault-tolerance and network resilience
